What changes when
YOU MARRY
- BAH shifts to the with-dependents rate.
- Add your spouse to DEERS to start Tricare.
- Update your SGLI (Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance) beneficiary.
- Revisit your TSP and bank account beneficiaries too.
A NEW DEPENDENT
- Add the child to DEERS for Tricare coverage.
- Update SGLI and account beneficiaries again.
- Start an education-savings habit early, while time does the work.
DEPLOYING APART
- Confirm Family Separation Allowance (FSA) if you qualify.
- Use the SDP (Savings Deposit Program) for its guaranteed return if eligible.
- Set an allotment or a shared budget so bills never miss.
- Put a power of attorney in place before you leave.
